The MC isn't a sociopath, but he isn't quick to let go of his anger.
@Kisato - I don't think any normal level of trauma can make a person a sociopath. And being abandoned as a reincarnated 20-something person isn't all that traumatic.

@Eviltwinq
>What kind of father talking about killing, murder , bandits , corpses, national conspiracy , etc in front of his little daughter?
A noble father, obviously. This way, the daughter will grow up a cunning noble, and hopefully will be able to keep her moral compass even when she has to do bad things for the greater good.
I don't know if it's the best way to do it, but she will have to learn these things one day.

@bobbybiracial
>MC killing humans, isn't that illegal?
No, it is generally legal for MCs to kill. That probably gives the work a higher age rating, but that's all.
You'll generally see most MCs killing with heavier heart, but even a nice guy like Kirito has killed people when there was no other choice.

@MiiaBestWaifu - An author can't please all people. And there is no need for him to do so. All sorts of people deserve to have stories they like.

Really tired of MCs that are supposed to be good guys we can project onto/relate with and then go full edgelord psychopath. Cause burning what were essentially captured enemy soldiers alive just cause they upset your adopted father is pretty damn psychotic. He didn't even feel bad about it. There's not even any moral complexity involved. Hell, it wasn't even a practical move, they could easily have been taken prisoner and interrogated further or used as political bargaining tools. There is no point to this outside of middle school level edge.

Well, considering that he was a NEET in his previous life, he's not exactly healthy in mind.

NEETs are leeches of society, and some of them can be very spoiled and violent towards their guardians. He's the spoiled and violent type.

@ConstantErasing
There's no way for him to capture enemy soldiers and bring them to his country without revealing his identity (he seems to be hiding it). He's a 30 year old man inside too, so he probably has his morality figured out, at least concerning enemy soldiers and bandits.

@jonsmth There's a difference between being a spoiled leech who is adult enough (maybe, 30 is still pretty young) to have a semblance of a moral code, and being an absolute psychopath. I'm not exactly super up to date on my geneva convention, but I wouldn't be surprised if we'd consider his actions a war crime. None of this makes him less of an amoral psychopath. This is just bad writing.

What I mean about his morality figured out is that he would think that it's okay to kill certain people instead of feeling conflicted about it. He had 9 years to do all that. And this ruthless philosophy got kickstarted by his biological parents who rejected him and left him in the forest to die - it was just that sort of world.

Now with that out of the way, bandits are just one of those groups of people that are supposedly okay to kill. They are outlaws and that means that there's no country nor law that protects them. Even game (animals) may have more protection than a common bandit (e.g. when a lord declares a forest to be his hunting grounds). There's a good reason for this: common bandits would attack peasants, caravans, villages, and then rape and kidnap people and then sell them to slavers. The only reason why you'd want to spare the life of a bandit is if you want to sell them to slavers yourself.

If there's anything MC should be worried about, it would be that he may have accidentally killed some prisoners. Soldiers aren't paragons of morality themselves, and may resort to pillaging as a bandit does. But he probably confirmed that all the occupants are his enemies - he did scout them before he approach them.

As for him being a spoiled leech, I already mentioned that he is probably sick in the head already. He enjoyed being a shut-in and didn't seem remorseful for being a burden to his guardians/original parents and to the society.

what kind of neckbeards try to attack the author for the MC burning captured enemies alive? holy shit, its a FANTASY WORLD, there is no justice system like ours, there are no war crimes, its kill or be killed - what would you do, let them run and risk them taking revenge on you or your family?

This actually doesn't surprise me since the MC seemed to of been bullied pretty harshly.

This makes it more interesting though. I approve.

Thanks for the chapter!
MC seemed a little too ruthless about decapitating a guy or ordering Frey to burn the fort and everything in it to the ground. Granted his father and a whole bunch of soldiers were injured or killed, but most people coming from a peaceful Japan are a little squemish about killing another human or even a living, hostile demon/animal. Surprised he didn't try putting a big barrier around the place and compressed it or have it fill with water, vacuum, or earth. Then again, burning the whole place down would be something an average human or group of humans could do while the others would indicate a powerful sorcerer. Also, he doesn't have an element so might not have been lucky enough to be able to use all elements without trouble and instead isn't able to use any element. Surprised goddess didn't fix that when realized it, although might have a rule or something preventing her from doing that once he reincarnated.
Btw, LN describes it better but when Marquis was talking about Frey controlling all the demons he didn't mean she was acting like the head of a gang or the Yakuza.
He meant she went out and ordered the the demons not to attack towns, travelers, or eat humans within his domain. As for any protests they either got killed or beaten into submission. Suffice to say this really helped him out as it made it safer for merchants to bring their wares without losing their wares or lives from demon attacks, and soldiers were safer not having to go out to hunt down and subjugate dangerous monsters and concentrate on guarding and maintaining order.

@VMENOVCID I know this is 9 months too late but yeah, no indicator beforehand that MC was OK with killing humans coldly .
