I think his dad or the professor explain principal's personality like such:
She's the type to see potential in people and push them to reach the height of it.
Even if they fail, she'll just pull them up and cheer them to keep going.

She's basically 'never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down' taken to literal.

It doesn't look like it in the previous chapter, but from the paneling in this chapter I think the idea is that Char is hidden behind him, so he can barrier her without anyone noticing, but the cat was already out of the bag with the teacher who everyone saw.

Though, Char's in line of sight at the start of the teachers other than the angry glasses lady, but she punches out the rest so I guess they could just suffer memory loss too.
