Is there some reason why that guard was so unnaturally durable? Like yeah he got a boost but Jolyne got one too and she's just showing off the normal Joestar endurance. Nothing too crazy

The boot did not deflect it entirely, she took half the damage from the meteor. The real reason was so that she could lit up the boot and throw it at the guard, and it did work.
