I don’t remember people getting this upset when Avdol survived a bullet to the head

Honestly I haven't read part 3. I started part 7 after finishing the anime. I DO, however, remember hating how they brought Avdol back. He pretended to be his own father or something for some reason when the group met back up with him, he only needed a week or two to recover from a wound that looked like it cracked his skull, and the whole group just let poor Polnareff anguish with his guilt the whole time for NO FUCKING REASON.

That said, Avdol in the anime just got a glancing blow to his skull, and was in a populated city probably minutes away from medical help. Magenta got nearly spit roasted by that bullet in a frozen wasteland miles from help. I understand why people are more incredulous about this revenant story.
