Thanks for the translation! I really enjoy when we can see someone's human side like this, not completely, but enough to not be able to hate them as we would want haha that makes things difficult for us reading it!
@bakasennin Because the narrator wants you to. But he's still an asshole. Sure, his dad is horrible, sympathy whatever--but his brother (who he tried to assassinate) had the same dad and still managed not to be an asshole. And his "I owe it to the people I stepped on to keep on stepping even harder on even more people" is bullshit sophsitry to make himself feel better. At least it does show there's some better instincts in him, but he's careful never to let them win so I don't really care.
@Purplelibraryguy Now that you put it that way, when authors do that, it's usually followed by something horrible happening the asshole character in question. It almost feels like a last effort to prevent us from saying "He deserved it!"
omfg I've just binge read this and might I say, this is a gem. The storytelling is so powerful and well written. We're only on ch 24 but I feel like I've been taken on a journey that was 100 chapters long (in a good way). Can't wait to see what lies in store for the princess and hakusei
