I saw the raws ages ago and knew it was coming but man, what a fucking shit ending.

I don't dislike yuri and even follow a few yuri series but in this case the yuri ending was the greatest asspull I have seen in quite a while. 99% of the manga was spent setting up the romantic relationship between NotRin and the other guy and we even got some serious ship-tease between NotKuro and Sensei (even though we knew she was either a lesbian or bi) only for this chapter to go "nope, they are both lesbians, fuck you". I don't care if the series got axed or if the author got bored, this was a really stupid and annoying way to end it. Even a "we are all friends and nothing more" ending would have been better than this crap.

Seriously, fuck the author and fuck this series for wasting my time only to end like this.

the sexual orientation swing is too fast and damn big. I wont complain about the yuri but I dont see much reason for gyaru to suddenly change from the boy to the girl. Also, it is strange when the author explicitly shipping the black haired girl and the sensei just to suddenly change it.
the only reason I can think is this manga get axed that is why it feels rushed.

I'm okay with this ending. It wasn't anything amazing as a manga so I didn't have much expectations. I like yuri now matter how boring, shallow and unexpected (axe-kun I'm looking at you) it might be - even since they hinted it'll go this way in some early chapters (I've been reading them as they were coming out) I was hoping for this route. Thanks for translating this

You may find it weird that the author rushed the ending to this manga, resulting in no sense of closure. You may find it awkward that the author treats human sexuality like a light switch that one can flip on the fly. You may find it appalling how the author threw away all that buildup for the romance with the girl and the male main character just for some titillation and yuri fanservice. (I have nothing against yuri in manga, as the main plot or a side story. I do hate forced romances)


You may be confused, until you realize that the author of this manga is also the author of Kodomo no Jikan (aka the series where a girl in the 3rd grade tries to seduce her 23 year old teacher). Then you realize why this manga was shit.

@KazumaLee94 Despite its controversial nature and lots of fanservice, Kodomo no Jikan actually treated the topic of a little girl falling in love with an adult (and many other topics like sexual molestation, menstruation, puberty, abuse, etc) in a mostly serious way. Plus it the focus of the story from day one and that never changed, so you knew what you were walking from day one.

This piece of crap, on the other hand, pretended to be something completely different for most of its run (with NotKuro's crush for NotRin being the only time they even touched the subject of homosexuality), only to drop this non-sensical ending where the relationships established previously no longer matter and NotRin is a lesbian despite the fact that HER ENTIRE INVOLVEMENT IN THE FUCKING STORY WAS DUE TO HER FEELING FOR THE MALE LEAD.

If this was a yuri manga or if her becoming a lesbian got the proper focus and effort put into it, then I'd fine with it and would have read it anyway. But nope, she is just gay out of nowhere. This could have ended with sensei and the other guy buttfucking each other and it'd make as much sense.

Really, given the handful of subtext presented and the amount of time that it took for it to get translated, you had every opportunity that one could wish for to pull out prematurely. But you chose to stay, so I guess subconsciously you're into "cuckold" (since you immerse yourself that hard into the stories you read).

Kodomo no Jikan had a huge buildup and actually tried to treat things serious, its perhaps one of the best series I have read. Problem with this one was it was all over the place and didnt know were it wanted to go, it lacked focus and it simply had problems in grabbing interest because it simply didnt knew what it wanted to so, it should had focused on the manga creating aspect and leave the relationships more or less static until characters were build up.

It could been worst, could been Genshiken part II.

Wew, it actually ended as yuri; the madman did it. And it was so bad. Maybe a bit props to the massive twist in the plot "development" though.

She's not gay out of nowhere. There are a few hints she's into it, and the male love interest is treated more as a joke throughout. However, it isn't developed well and her interactions with Yuki are still mostly played for comedy.

This series would be best with no romantic conclusions, and if anything a strong bond between Miyaji and Yukimori. Throughout the series they're the two characters with the most heartfelt, earnest interactions, and they barely interact in the final chapter because Watashiya was like "FUCK IT" for this chapter. It's a shame, because a platonic friendship between the two of them being the finisher for this series would've been unique and very interesting. Well, it was mostly unique throughout so I already had that. I mean, at least we had chapter 23 for that stuff, but 24 feels like utterly flaccid.

@Acolytus Kodomo no Jikan might've been as serious as you said, I just couldn't get over the premise of a 3rd grader trying to get in a relationship with a 23 year old. I dropped that manga after the first few chapters.

@mikegnesium I actually did, as you so eloquently phrased, "pulled out prematurely" with this manga. I dropped it at chapter 10 due to it losing my interest. I only came back to comment on how this manga devolved into a mess of a story, after giving the rest of the manga a quick read through.

You can take potshots at me and anyone else who criticizes this ending all you want, labeling any complaints as "insecure whining". The fact of the matter is that any story that devotes most of its plot to develop a romance, only for the ending to have one half of said romance forget his/her love interest to hook up with a completely different character, with little to no buildup, (regardless of gender or sexual orientation of the characters involved) is a poorly written story.

Well.... I guess it never felt like this manga was building towards something climactic to begin with. When I think back, I can't imagine what would make for a suitable ending.
This felt rushed either way, though. Kind of a shame.
I think the manga was pretty solid for most of the middle there, though, once it got the whole cast on equal footing and was about creating manga and pursuing artistic endeavors and shit.
