I'd say it's more likely she mentioned her life mainly to get him to agree, seeing as he seems to be more careful when it comes to others lives rather than his own.
Bringing up how their death means your death is one of the few methods that can make such a person be a bit more cautious and put more effort into keeping their life rather than satisfy their curiosity.

He's clearly such a case and she's experienced far more of his personality than necessary to figure that out by now.

She's not worried about her own life. She even says on the same page that she's going to die either way, so she doesn't give a shit about that, but keeping him alive is all that matters.

re: his knowledge is tedious and dumb, only orders to not kill him is what's stopping her
she's lying dude. well, not about the tedious thing, but she's seen first-hand the powerful effects his 'curiosity' can have. you can be annoyed by something while still understanding its power/importance.

second, he's essentially the only non-slave that treats her like a person instead of a disposable tool. That said, she still sees herself as a tool, so she thinks he's ridiculous. The fact that she's willing to tease him says a lot about how she feels about him. She doesn't interact with anyone else who isn't a slave or her acting subordinate that way. Sure, it was an 'order', but being ordered to relax and be yourself in front of someone who decides if you can live or die doesn't work that well if you don't feel like you can trust them.

liz is a good girl and if there is no romantic subplot between them at any point (doesn't count if she gets killed before it can happen) i will eat my hat

e: oh if you mean 'i will find a way to escape this place' the context makes it pretty clear it's 'i'll find a way to escape this place dragging you behind me', otherwise she could abandon him at any time

I mean, civilization has lasted this long without him. It's sort of a 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' thing. Not just that, it's clearly not a world that rewards such studies, so no one would bother doing it. I'll actually be annoyed if he manages to recruit the dragon tho

inb4 isekai logic, once reptiles can survive on their own, they live completely independently. that thing can clearly catch and kill its own food, so it would make sense for it to be alone. shingo is applying the wrong societal structure, and is probably just reacting out of an anthropomorphic thing of 'baby alone so sad'. that said, anime, so that's probably what it is. most likely killing, but not eating, everything in the area because: a) it was abandoned there, territorial, b) protecting a wounded/dead parent, c) terrified + a/b

She says "If you do what you want and end up dying, we get killed." She is referring to the fact that the nobility will kill her for failing her mission. She literally needs to keep him alive in order to survive. (See chapter 17: The Value of a Slave)

If she does have hidden feelings, or some appreciation for his ability, it doesn't really change that she's letting fear rule her judgements. I doubt she'll be able to have her cake and eat it too.

(Never said I thought Liz wasn't a good girl. But as someone who has been treated like an object, it is a bit disappointing to see her treat her benefactor as an object.)

99.9999% certain with p < .001 that she's being practical, because she's always practical. if he dies, they DO all die, whether by dragon or by noble. It's not about her, it's about everyone. Hell, she tried to kill herself before by freezing to death with a head wound on the roof, remember? she's appealing to his 'i have to save everyone' side. And to your point, it's "If you do what you want and end up dying, *WE* get killed." just emphasizing that it's we and not I. That said, i have no idea what the actual jp text says, so.....

i like a female char who isn't afraid to smack the lead around and tell him when he's being a fucking idiot

Ok, I'll admit it. I think that was a well-deserved punch.

I don't doubt Shingo's insights will save the day once again, and that it is a good idea to investigate more about why the dragon is there. But like Liz, I can't help but think this is NOT the time for that. Thanks to Orville, they got a distraction, but they're still very, very close to the battle. A monster of that size will surely be able to cover the distance in the blink of an eye if it still sees them as a threat or as food.

Get away first. If you're safe, you can try again next time.

Yes, I get the same feeling about the "we" part. Liz is (or was) very dismissive about her own life, but she was also a team leader with several people under her wing. And even if it was just about her, I'd understand the change: this is probably the first time she can look forward to a brighter future, as long as Shingo doesn't die. Romantic interest or not, let's not forget the whole expedition is about Shingo earning enough money to buy her freedom from Doni.

Unfortunately, it could really be anything the mangaka wants at this point and it just gets explained away. All those choices you listed were interesting though. I wonder which one it will be...

I think is about the young dragon having a mother nearby. The monsters were left so the dragon could learn to hunt/fight, the cry is sad because is calling the mother, and soon she will appear.

No, actually it hasn't. That's the problem and that's why they summoned him, specifically. They noted in the very beginning that the population isn't increasing anymore because more and more people are dying of diseases, malnutrition, and such. So, it is broken for the humans, and they need it fixed. I guess studies to fix it haven't been undertaken by the government because they can just summon a unique person, a hero, from another world to do it for them.

How do you know that the monsters weren't killed for turf wars? Feed, I get, even if there's an argument that it's waiting. Turf wars is universal. Unless if you're saying the bodies weren't mangled but killed cleanly.
