Just to add some statistics to the discussion: In every gram of blood, there's about .005 grams of iron. (if my math is right) But scientific tests on blood have shown that as the hemoglobin content goes up, the resistance also goes up.

Resistance (in ohms):
• Distilled water: 500,000
• Rain water: 20,000
• Blood (47.87% red cell density): 18700₁
• Blood (19.72% red cell density): 10300
• Tap water: 1,000 - 5,000
• Brackish river water: 200
• Seawater: 30 - 20

So maybe Wilbur has something special about his blood in particular? I dunno.

well that would clearup why he isnt using salt water or something.
but just of the top of my head there are two problems with that if she can sacrifice blood thats on a different person as her own magical catalyst what stops them from using blood from open wounds on enemies wouldnt that possebility make those fights seem kind of pointless as you only need to create some bleeding wounds and then catalyse the hell out of the opponent?

the second would be that the electrical discharge would be enhanced through the blood catalyst but then would have to contend against the resistance of the human body which with him wearing clothes would be up to 100 times higher if he is semi dry compared to being drenched so unless using 800ml blood as catalyst enhanced her ability 100+ times it would have been better to use it as a conductor
and if it does enhance it that much then it begs the question why magical suicide bombers arent a thing as inducing major blood loss can enhance your magic by several hundred fold for one spell and its already established how "much" a slaves live is worth to those nobles

also different from other magic users so far her electric ability had a touch range
while others like that sassy mutt only need a connection to their element to use it

while using the blood as a catalyst instead of a conductor would clear up those problems it would open up a whole different can if worms so i would rather ignore it
