Just to add some statistics to the discussion: In every gram of blood, there's about .005 grams of iron. (if my math is right) But scientific tests on blood have shown that as the hemoglobin content goes up, the resistance also goes up.
Resistance (in ohms):
• Distilled water: 500,000
• Rain water: 20,000
• Blood (47.87% red cell density): 18700

• Blood (19.72% red cell density): 10300
• Tap water: 1,000 - 5,000
• Brackish river water: 200
• Seawater: 30 - 20
So maybe Wilbur has something special about his blood in particular? I dunno.
