Hi everyone,
I’ve been curious about the space between manga and animation, so I decided to try making a handmade motion manga — just as a personal hobby, not for any commercial use.(Demo)

This short episode was created entirely on my own (with a small group of friends). It’s not polished or professional, just something we made to experiment and see how it feels.

I’d really appreciate any honest thoughts
  • Was it hard to follow?
  • Did anything feel strange or interesting?
  • Does this format feel like something new or unnecessary?

Totally okay if you don’t like it — I’m just learning! Thanks so much in advance for taking a look 🙏

Very interesting, reminds me of some stories in PSP games (like Ghost Rider or Marvel's Super Heroes Squad) or some gacha game stories with the Live2D animations. The last page might seem confusing because there's too much panels to look at, all moving at once; but other than that, I think this has plenty of potential. Keep up the awesome work!

Looks good!

If you haven't seen the first episode of the original FLCL, you might take the time to find and watch that - there's a good example of 'ani-manga' in that that may or may not be useful as an example of one approach to this kind of setup. There's another one in the last episode (IIRC - and to be honest, the whole original series is a good watch, though you can skip all the sequels from the last seven or eight years).

Yeah, I totally get that having everything moving at once can be too much. I am considering having the speech bubbles pop up one by one instead, to guide the reader more clearly.
Do you think that would help?

so it's a form web page, right?

here's my idea
sorry for my shitty handwriting

Basically, my suggestions are:
  • Show only 1 sentence at a time (can be more than one if it's short).
  • Each sentence for each tap should finish animating/displaying in ~1 second.
  • Each sentence should not take more than 3 seconds in average to read

Yeah, it’s a web page for now, but I’m hoping to eventually make it feel more like TikTok — super mobile-friendly, easy to use, and interactive.
I totally agree with your point about adding a way to go back with a tap or swipe. People read at different speeds, so that makes a lot of sense.
As for the idle swipe notification — I didn’t include it because I thought it might break the flow, but maybe a small, subtle hint could actually be useful. I’ll think more about that.

Let me know if you have any other ideas — I’d love to hear more!
