There one thing positive I can say about the volume extras despite my feelings with the story, they manage to get a chuckle out of me. The comedy works better when the story is so paper thin & then some. Thank you for the chapter.

We'll never get this sheer look of abject disappointment on Kyou's face in the main story so I'll substitute this alternate reality for the actual one in my own mind. For pure evil sociopaths like him, the worst punishment possible is having their keikaku (TN: keikaku means 計画) not actually work the way they expected it to, and as a result must live with the boring consequences.

The fact that the author writes these "endings" as 4-koma gag panels means he is 100% fucking with the audience and trolling them. He knows it makes no sense for Shun and the gang to behave the way they do or for Kyou to constantly get away with all his bullshit and he rubs salt in the wound by presenting what reality would actually look like as a surrealist joke.

It is honestly kind of impressive in a fucked up kind of way, like through all the disdain there is a spark of respect for their ability to string people (mainly their editor) along and give zero fucks. He's still a hack fraud, but if all of this turned out to be some epic Andy Kaufman-esque prank I would have no choice but to applaud him.
