very abrupt ending. we dont learn anything more of K's past, what caused him to abandon his friends and family and become K, and even this segmented story ends after the snowstorm rather than them making it back (though i guess its implied they made it)

did he plan for it to be more than 1 volume and got axed? or got bored? in any case chapter 5 is basically an expy of chapter 1

I don't think they planned it to be more than 1 volume. I guess Taniguchi was practising for Summit of the Gods.

Makes sense. If k is the prototype to summit of God's then we can basically surmise ks back story based on habus

Habu had a mentee who died climbing with him and so went solo only climbing after

Guessing the guy who died climbing with k was his mentee or sth and k out of guilt left his old life behind

Yeah, last chapter is abit strange, some plot points got abandoned as well.
