Actually I'd like to also hazard a guess that they might know that those that show up with "weird" weapons are very powerful and therefore difficult to control.
It could easily be that those with normal weapons have predictable abilities and weaknesses they can exploit to more easily manage them.

Not to mention the repeated summoning means that they did lose the entire team multiple times.

I like this too.

As much as I dislike OP MC’s, I’m okay with this because there’s a legit reason for it instead of just some BS like “a goddess felt bad for me so she gave me cheat skills”. It also helps set the groundwork for future conflict too
