Yeah, the piece of shit still goes on a killing spree, and is gay by the end, the only thing that really needed the correction was that all that "struggle snuggling" is what started it in the story.

Nope. A misunderstanding is when an action or words are taking in a different way than what was originally happened/said. This was a straight up lie being exposed.
Mangaka would lose everything they've believed in if word ever got out that misunderstandings are supposed to be cleared up. And not take 200+ chapters to do so.
