i think it's a little corny too, and to just break it down to "observation skills" also seems to undersell it.ok that elevator standoff is actually complete fire
it ending with MC taking the time to watch somebody else and copy it is pretty silly though

I feel like it might be a translation issue though.
Like to me it comes off as pure intuition. Intuition he's developed over 15-18 years just living near swords, understanding the philosophy guiding the utility of katana, and hanging around his dad's friends who left their own impressions. I figure vision is the conduit, but it's the intuition and experience that's the real move.
Still have no idea how in those nanoseconds he must've had to process iori's iai, he completed his understanding of it.
Definitely feels like the author is rushing his growth unnecessarily.
