Is this when they stop pulling shounen bullshit out of their ass and things only get worse? :wtf:

I honestly hope they kill the people responsible for this, no redemption for them :angery:

It's annoying how people in these comments fail to realize Mimi's Youmafication is clearly narratively meant to parallel Kagura's fears about Raito's potential Youmafiction, and instead think she was killed to job when she was never really a powerful fighter to begin. No shade on her but she had one fight, and it was against Kagura and she couldn't do anything even with Kagura letting her hit her at full strength.

Yeah... that's actually a good point. What happened to Mimi is likely to happen to Raito as well.

Problem is that it was done in an extremely cheap way.
The reason for it was that she was just introduced and, just after the arc where she was part of the bad guys of the week, the next bad guys of the week appeared out of nowhere, forced transform her with something that wasn't set up at all and then teleported away without any consequence, as a some sort of "Oh, look how evil and powerful they are" bs. (It's a shit technique and I despise it)
This is just disgusting writing.

So you think they should have slowed the plot down to get us more attached to Mimi before killing her off?
I don't see how the Youmafication serum not having been setup before use is really an issue given a massive part of the series are the mysteries of Youmafication. These guys clearly know stuff our heroes don't, which is why they were after the book. Them having a serum like that just further establishes they hold keys to Youmafication. I also don't see how them getting away is really a problem, since that was setup at the start of the fight ("two silvers and one crimson? This'll be over in an instant I gather") and introducing stronger villains makes sense since the only heroes that had any trouble with the previous set were Quna (a Crimson Knight) and Raito, and Raito had gotten the shit kicked out of him before his fight.

Something maybe worth considering is a protagonist wielding a friendly ninyou/youma's aramitama to have their strength still fight alongside them. Kagura would be the last person to see a friend as a tool or commodity but bolstering her physical capabilities through the power of someone who wanted to atone would certainly be a fitting end for a certain creepy priest.

I don't blame the author for how they're writing the story, and I had a good idea how dark this story would get since early on, but this is almost physically painful. I just hope every single one of those villains sees their just desserts. I want to look forward to some kind of catharsis.

Slowed the plot down? She had three issues to exist before getting fridged, my brother in Christ.

Making up sexo designs and then killing them off for the shock value is peak manga slop but the speed of this is taking the cake.

She was introduced in chapter 11 and got injected with the serum in chapter 28. During those 18 chapters she appears in 12 and gets injected on the 73rd page she appears in (2 were in color) (not counting ones where she zooms around the page as a nondescript blur). I dunno where you got "three issues to exist" from.
Also, as said, it isn't senseless shock value; it serves a narrative purpose as it parallels with Kagura's fears for Raito. Like, I could understand the argument that the plot could have been slowed a bit to give us more time with her, but her death and the manner of it definitely served a narrative purpose and wasn't just to build up the new villains. I'm not saying it doesn't suck or I wouldn't have liked to have seen more of the design (in more outfits by Quna!), but to chock this to bad writing or storytelling is just wrong.
