I don’t think they are a couple yet. But they now share a deep bond which makes them coupling up all but inevitable. For now I expect the author to move onto another arc and while things will be different they’ll probably be very much the same too.

It could be the series ending but I expect it will be the former or perhaps a little of both. As the previous plot lines have all be teased pretty far in advance but what comes next will be different from what came before. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next chapter time skips us a way forward like how Naruto grew up in Naruto’s time skip
