He'll probably regress to the formless being wandering between worlds. The "core" that defined his current self is still the desire to protect Oto. Even before sending her home, it has already wavered because the more Oto grew, the less dependent on her brother she became. He needs to form another core that is equally strong, but it seems the current connections aren't strong enough as substitute.
Just get laid and it'll be fine, probably.

This. If his current form is shaped by Oto's regret of having lost her brother, then once it's time for him to "disappear for good", he'll probably end up living on as Sumireko's regret of having lost her best friend/love interest. The key difference being that it's about HIM, the Curiosity—NOT someone else he just took the appearance of.

At least, that seems like the likeliest outcome at the moment :V
