My guess? Shinomiya Taicho acted as an organ doner and provided a new heart for Hibino. Taicho's body may be long gone, but the heart/core has been treated as a less tangible "concept" this arc anyway. I would much prefer if Hibino got a new core, like you're suggesting, but the way I read it, our boy's going back to being fully human. ;w;
