howdy! this ones probably my fave side story out of the ones i've read; sorry about the timeline mixup on releasing the other one before this! they stand/make sense just fine independently though so it shouldn't matter too much. i couldn't find a title for this side story though; if you know it, please let me know!
Ahhhhhhh
The juxtaposition between the sheer existential terror of living in this world as a human and the general cuteness of this is fucking my mind.
Then it gets sad when you find out his mother cooked and ate her.
Remember. They eat humans in this world, according to the main male lead's mother a few chapters back.
@Riger Wasn't it that they ended up going out for a picnic and she got abducted/eaten by some other person, or am I misremembering?
but yeah, the contrast of the grimness of the world and the light, cutesy chapters is pretty harsh on my poor brain - especially when we know somewhat what happened to her
Ah shit, I didn't think we were gonna get backstory on this anecdote. Turns out, it is possible to learn their language with time and there isn't some weird mystical force stopping it from happening.
@InfernalDrake117 Same. Lone human that can think, and most of the world wants to eat ya. Holy crap. Also, why is the main wolf boy not teaching her any useful words...
@radstylix
probably, because they are animal-people, their pronounciation are difficult for a human voicebox, or something. hence why lila hasn't said anything. thus, maybe the general assumption in beast-world is that humans just can't talk
@remikih @Med1um
I was using morbid humor to make a joke. Since she's gone, its pretty obvious something happened to her. We have no idea about the lifespans of the humans or anthros of this world. Maybe humans only live 12-15 years like many dog breeds and she died of old age? But I doubt it. As lighthearted as MOST of the manga seems to be, there's some void level dark spots that seemingly come out of nowhere.
@Riger
no no, the thing is "we know exactly what happened to her". Chapter 2, page 5. She was eaten outside, when they go to the picnic, and "took their eyes away for a moment". There is no mystery or dark spots.
Oof this is cute yet realizing that she was originally bought to be eaten is horrifying. Like the species were switched and you kept a cute pig or cow as a pet instead of tuerning them into bacon and hamburgers. It's normal for them to eat humans....
I kinda wonder if they are gonna meet another human and they decide to have a playdate or something, but since other types exist if the other person speaks French or something. Like dang couldn't even catch a break.
