I just checked. The 9th tower Ezelipe first appeared in ch.18 in Zealark's recollection. In that loop she killed a child in front of Zeal as the latter is imagining a future in which the child comes back for revenge.

I get the feeling that rather than evil they just have completely different morals. One thing that seems clear is that they worship strength, and it's been stated more than once that the reason they're actively waging war against humans is because of the will of Demon King (who was originally a human). I don't think they'd be good without him, but they do seem very cold and egotistical.
Even Zealark, he has been helping and likely will continue to, but it's not like he ever felt bad about the people he killed or anything of the sort, he really just does his own thing.
