Does the author have it out for mothers/mother-like figures? That's the second one that we have seen in a backstory that has died.

On a more serious note, finding out last chapter that there is some sort of feeling that is going to bring them together is interesting. I am guessing that this loop will involve the other members of the party he had as a result of them having the same feeling as Lauro and seeking Albus out. Maybe this is the loop where they can finally break through and save Fiona.

So Lauro was too strong but was blinded by his strength that he wasn't able to understand weakness, which becomes his weakness. He's great as a warrior but probably not good as a leader. And that's exactly what his father saw in him, thus Albus teaching him
