So in the original timeline Rayman and Risa got married but he died before Albus met Risa. The way Risa was talking about him there seems to imply he died while doing some doctoring. I wonder if the theme of this arc is going to be a variant of the trolley problem somehow with the plague.

I think what we're seeing here is two heroes' journeys getting compressed into one. In the previous reality where Albus was the hero, the Red Blight was also present but not recognized as the Demon Lord's attack because at that point his revival hadn't become known. At that early stage, the hero Rayman went on his heroic quest (ending the Red Blight) and succeeded at the cost of his life. He was simply never recognized as a hero because he wasn't the flashy great magical fighter fighting the Demon Lord. This time things got accelerated and Albus has to accompany the earlier unrecognized hero who is now recognized as a true hero thanks to the revised timeline.

So Albus met Risa in a previous loop, and since the blight was there, I'm guessing like others said, Rayman then was dedicating himself to treat it and was basically the unspoken hero in Hero Albus timeline.
And yeah, Risa and Rayman married! And she called him her hero :3 is this a possible parallel for Fiona and Albus? Maybe?~

Though I wonder if Auro is okay, since if she's active, then they can definitely also solve the demon king issue with her knowledge!
