By the way, the bit about him just striking some iron rod until it gets hot enough to start a fire isn't bullshit. You can get iron/steel quite hot by just striking it and and working it over repeatedly fast enough. You can even start getting it to glow if the rod isn't that thick.

...It's a very convoluted and inefficient way to start up a forge when they likely have flint and steel around or something like that, but it's not unrealistic.
