I know that there is a cultural attitude of NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) in many places, and that it often manifests by a person having very little compassion for the plight of their neighbors; I'm entirely aware that it exists.
But when rape and murder are dismissed as "not my problem," your society is ready to collapse.
I cannot understand this attitude.
