at first I was kinda annoyed with her dad, but I can’t really blame him either, he’s not completely wrong since he just wants what’s best for Niina. at least he’s not being too stubborn when dealing with her, pretty good parent:chad:

thank you for translation
He is wrong tho. His argument rests on the idea that a mangaka's skillset isn't transferable to other fields, which is incorrect. Mangaka have to develop the same skillsets as both a writer and an illustrator at the same time, and there's plenty of jobs that demand the skills necessary for both. He's just stuck in the narrowminded perspective of a Japanese office drone

I am really happy to know the author is doing well. Look at all that stuff! The merchandise, the anime, the booth!

It is still a theory that this whole manga is allegorical to the author's life! You cannot convince me otherwise. To put yourself out there in a difficult positions of your art maybe not doing well, your family telling you all the time to quit and see reality for what it is, to get a job that brings money, to stop trying to get this dream going... to have someone who supports you through tick and thin. The author and artist have been working on the same work, and only on the same work.

Guy, this isn't a conspiracy! I am telling you!

Also, please read his previous cancelled work. It's amazing! And it was cancelled.

Now that's how you resolve a family conflict plot. It had been a while since I'd seen an author who didn't deliberately create stupidly restrictive parents and protagonists in denial.

What a breath of fresh air

it is amazing i'm sad it ended so early it seemed very much to be akin to "Sweetness and Lightning" which i also loved
Baby steps...
But also. He probably already had this conversation and she brushed it off.
they did talk about it in chapter 11(I think(?)) and her grandma helped her get over it

Glad to see the dad isn't a complete asshole and is starting to accept that Nina at some point will leave the nest and take responsibility for her own choices. And she's not alone since she has a not yet boyfriend willing to support her.

That irritated me too. That's like saying an author has no transferrable skills.
Pro mangaka can write, draw, storyboard, edit, hell even paneling is it's own separate skill that can be useful in other media forms.
