If world-building was a hamburger, this author tossed raw meats on lettuce while cooking the pickles and tomatoes; none of this works that way!

This is NOT how to tell a story in the classic sense; I see the intent, but this is very poorly executed.

Also, WTAF with this?! Not like it's unrealistic; I see what happened, and it makes sense. It's just really fucking dumb in its execution, because there should be about 25 more pages explaining the behavior, and not waiting for 3 chapters before bothering; that isn't "storytelling" in that it creates suspense. It merely creates confusion, and quickly, boredom.
And boredom is the bane of all authors and entertainers, so... bad work, author.
Do better, dummy.
Now, a random-ass murder spree due to "blasphemy" is literally average human behavior, and I guess the Kemonomimi/Therianthropic peoples have a low bullshit tolerance.

Yanno....

This chapter makes more sense if you think of the animal folks as Semites/Jews/Arabs, and the Elf-Human forces as Western Eurasians; if you view it thusly, it is almost-but-not-quite-literally an accurate depiction of the start of the First Crusade in this chapter....
:haa:
