@lazulihemel Na, he does things because he genuinely wants her to enjoy herself, not to garner some sort of favor from her. That's not being a simp, that's just being a good dude.
It would be better if he listened to her more, but he's nervous and is trying to have the date go perfectly, which causes him to forget that the entire point of the date is to spend time together and get to know each other.
