This entire thread is killing me, cos it's way too accurate.

I love talking with my Japanese friends and they claim something as Super Japanese, and we'll point out that it came from Korea (like everything except rice and kanji), and they shift the discussion to how Japan assimilates other cultural ideas better than anyone... 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Like, damn son!

Also, and this has just kind of been bugging me, in the position of the MC, why grow rice?!
Wheat exists, and is way, WAY more efficient; it takes less room, less water, less physical work, and has more nutritional content.
Hell, it even keeps longer, and rots less over time in adverse conditions!
Don't get me wrong: if there was only one food I could eat for the rest of my life, it would happily be rice; I love rice the way an isekai MC loves rice!
But... if you need to feed a bunch of people really fast?
Wheat.
It takes very little to grow, all you need to add is salt and water to make bread (though yeast is nice), and can even be digested when eaten raw (yanno, if necessary).

And dude grows rice?
With the knowledge and ability of a god, he chooses Rice?!

Just seems dumb.
