I wonder if he'll start an industrial revolution by accident at this point. Those self powered cogs could be used to create generators fairly easily I bet, letting you convert magic into "mundane" electricity. If the magic to rotation ratio is good enough it might even allow a post-energy scarcity scenario.

Dude is going to make a musical revolution within a month or so. The next thing you know he's going to make a guitar, drums and bass. A few bards are going to see said instruments inventions and make the first ever band in the world.

Isn't there electricity magic? If we use the same logic applied to the fan, he could probably enchant a tool to directly generate electricity. They've also already got cars, but they're having issues with the efficiency of converting magical power into movement so using magical power to turn cogs to generate electricity seems like it wouldn't work.

Also, the cogs were powered through magical power injection and magic isn't free; people get tired using magic. Remember that the entire premise of his reincarnation into this world is that its inhabitants consume magical power faster than it can regenerate so the gods create a connection to another world where there is unused magical power in order to replenish the reserves of their world. It may very well become a problem if they find ways to consume even more magical power than they currently do.

I wonder how magical power is generated in the first place though. Could one devise a device that burns a fuel to generate magical power? Right now, they are powering the magical tools by injecting magical power that they manipulate. Or can they use ambient magical power?

In any case, it seems the music box will be the focus next. I wonder if they'll think of how to improve it with magic to create other sounds. If they can use wind enchantments, they might be able to replicate speakers and create something like a vinyl record player.

Well, maybe I'm misunderstanding something about the efficiency of using magic in magical tools, so we'll just have to see how it all turns out and if Ryoma can maybe figure out something interesting about the cars.

When you have a drill, everything starts to look like a nail you can hammer in with it~
Of course a craftsman introduced to a motor, is going to try and apply it to solve anything he can think of.

That said, this serge guy has some really weird ideas. Using a rotating motion to somehow power/play music? Usually you would just use wind magic directly to (capture and) play music and other sounds. Or maybe telepathy, if you are more well-versed in mental magics than wind magics.
You could even use earth-magic to power a diafragm, that in turn powers the air, if you are good at elemental magic but not wind. Or for fire mages, create some plasma (lightning) that in turn powers the air (tesla coil music).

His idea of powering a car with spinning magic is odd too. Normally you would use elemental magic directly, to apply the (reactive?) force that moves the car. But I suppose it might be quieter than the solutions wind and/or fire magic would need to impart forces. And the ability to stack x*y*z gears in a 3d box, for compounded torque, is an advantage over even the silent water-magic solutions (though earth magics ability to apply force on ENTIRE volume of car will always compound to more force... and more silent than both spinny-magic and water-magic solutions).

Isn't there electricity magic?
In other series lightning are fundamentally rare, only very few person able to harness the power and need understanding how lighting work or some case need a catalyst to work, idk if this series has mention it.

Even if someone made generator for electricity it need huge infrastructure, even on medieval settings is looong way on to industrial revolution.

I think in this case, this world already influence some of part of tech on earth but the reincarnation peoples are not enough understanding how its work.

Ryoma. For his experience in the modern world with that office worker altitude. He still doesn't know how to take things for business. So, I understand now how the hell he ends up living a really bad life in his old world.

Yeah, I know that he has a laundry business. But in the end if he does not see value in something that is valuable outside of usage. What the point of being business man?

And in the end. How the F car is losing to horse. I know that early age cars are slow. But this is the world of magic so improving will be much simpler. You don't even need a combustion engine. You just bypassing it into same idea of electric vehicle that just spinning the wheel. That means it's less part to maintain. less part to improve too. And they have better battery call magic stone.
