So far he's kinda lacking character heavily so

This is why fantasy world native/isekai MC shouldn't involve in noble/royalty at all, because after he cured the princess of the seemingly incurable curse, thus securing her life, they decide to drag him into a political scheme where he'll potentially make a major power his enemy all while risking his life as bait? What an unique way to express their gratitude. /s

At some point, a sufficiently capable MC becomes influential enough that they are inherently a part of politics and intrigue, even if just as someone the politicians have to plot around.
That's the point where getting involved with nobles and royalty is fine.

Otherwise, you end up in a role of spy/bodyguard/assassin or something like that. Well, it's not a bad role, but most isekai MCs have the potential to be much more than that.
