the case is finally closed and all 4 of them are confirmed as the culprits. i guess the four of them will end up getting the usual “pleasure-filled punishment” later on :aquadrink: and i think the MC is gonna start getting hunted down in the next few chapters

Their punishment is gruesome.
Also just noticed this group is locking chapters behind a paywall on their site. Welp rip, once MD finds out all of their chapters will get nuked. Several groups got banned for that recently.

I think they are in the green due to it being one chapter only, that they release first for their supporters and unlock later for everyone else, IIRC.

She kinda got disqualified as early as in page 14, as she asked a question in direct response to the question proposed in page 13.
It probably had to be a direct answer to her question, i.e., a response is okay as long as you don't answer the question.

When Shima was cast down in Chapter 24, she was directly responding to Tashiro's question of "Wasn't it an old woman?" with "Yes, it was an old woman." The call and response that eventually got Moribe was "You're going to whip us as soon as things look bad for you?" with her non-verbal response to the negative. (I don't have access to the raws; I don't know if Shiratori phrased any of her follow-up statements about apologizing as a question, or if the dialogue was swapped to make the English flow more naturally, though Moribe was undoubtedly denying all of it.)

The situation you mention is more like Shiratori asking a question, and Moribe ignoring it in favor of her own question. She didn't answer the question, though she did respond.

Shiratori asked Moribe a question that she knew would provoke a direct response from Moribe in the form of a question. Just like asking someone with a broken foot if it hurts, and they respond with a sarcastic "what do you think?!" or someone that royally fucked something up "You fucked up bad, man." and they respond with "No shit, Sherlok, what made you think that!"

Even if it would provoke a response, it's obviously not what happened. Shiratori figured out that "a question answered" would result in the roles swapping, but not that any response would count as an answer. If that were the case, any sort of response to a question from the "pigs" would count. It had to be a literal reply to a question, not a figurative reply. A provoked response that did not actually answer the question did not count.

Yes, if you responded to a question with "Well, duh!" as a tacit agreement to the statement, then yes, you were responding to it.

But if someone asked "You agree that the sky is red, right?" and you replied with "You have two left feet, don't you?", then you're obviously not responding to that answer since it doesn't answer the question. Yes, there are semantics, and demon magic involved, but you could also argue that someone answering a question of "Don't you think this is the way that things are?" with "Don't you think that this is the way things could also be?" is not a direct response.

In that case, then Moribe's shaking her head doesn't count, because it was more a plea for Shiratori to stop talking as it was causing her distress and trauma. It doesn't matter how you twist or turn it, Moribe answered Shiratori's question with a question.

Just like if you and I were talking about favorite colors, and instead of providing my favorite color to you, I ask you "Well, don't you want to know me better?" And you answer "Alright, what is your favorite color?" That is a question in direct response to the question I asked.
