I'll agree that it's ambiguous, but that very ambiguity is important. Moribe shaking her head could have been interpreted in a lot of ways: "You're wrong", "I don't want to hear this", "Shut up", "I'm not listening", "No", etc. But a head shake like that is almost universally interpreted as "No," which does directly answer Shiratori's question.
Your own example includes a direct response with "Alright" being a verbal agreement to the previous question. If you leave that acknowledgement out, it becomes more ambiguous; the followup question is obviously asking for more information, but I wouldn't have acknowledged that I wanted to know you better even if that's the result of the question. It's explicit versus implicit.
