And of course she doesn't tell her dad, because why? Just tell your dad, and that scumbag will never get a chance to get close to you ever again. I hope he trips over and gets his head pierced by a nail and dies on the spot and we'll never have to hear about that scumbag ever again.

Edit: Before someone comments about how extreme this is - I know. I'm tired of this trope where there's a conflict of this kind, and the situation is just sort of forgotten without any proper resolution. For once, I'd like to see a manga that does things extremely differently.

While an asshole like him getting his ass beat would be a nice touch, him coming to the realization that he's got no chance despite him being the superior carpenter is still sweet.

I hate it so much when characters go off and have these competitions without actually considering the feelings of the person they're competing for.
