Nah, that would kind of go against what seems to be the premise of the story, if the cool girl is into the cool guy then we are wasting possible drama sources, she has to either be into the MC or probing for MC's intentions regarding the chiros girl in such a roundabout way that the MC doesn't get it, the main source of tension the story seems to building towards is having the MC grow close to both girls and eventually having to make a choice, so the cool girl can not take herself out of the running yet.

If this follows most rom com tropes. The friend probably does like MC's friend and is supporting FMC at first. Bonus, if the MC's friend also has a thing for the MC, or the FMC. However, something will change in the dynamic later, and FMC's friend will see MC in a new light, and she will eventually confess, but realize it is too late, because by the time that happens, he realizes he loves FMC. I am sure he is going to save the fmc from either an arrange marriage, moving to a different country or stop her from going on date with his friend (bonus if he gets there only to find out fmc told her date she is still in love with MC and can't go through with the date). I think the loser girl (female lead) has never had any feelings for MCs friend, both women only have feelings for him. It's just hes to insecure and someone like that would never be interested in me Herbivore mindset.

That's because main girl wants to be close to MC but he's introvert and shy to extreme levels, so if she says she's interested in him he won't know how to act around her. By going along with the story that she's interested in MC's friend she gets to spend time with him
