Gotta say when it comes to the worst characters in this manga, it would have to be:

#3 MC: Grow some backbone and tell glasses chick to f*ck off, and for a more subjective gripe, stop it with the friendzoning.
#2 Glasses Chick: How about you leave the MC, who is barely an acquaintance, alone you judgemental b*tch.
#1 Ex GF:
Dirty cheater. What? Just because you didn't sleep with the guy, you think you can still make amends, f*ck off.

So why does Natsuki hate him? Anyone got any spoilers?
She is his ex's best friend and believes their fall out was entirely MCs fault and for some retarded reason, antognizes him to? We don't know. Maybe make them reconcile? She is also the one who trapped the MC in party to make sure him and the ex met there. She is objectively the worse character in the entire story. A standard best friend chick who thinks their friend can do no wrong and the guy is literal satan.

Funny how 4eyes and the Ex just can't fathom the fact that, a guy can be very close to another woman without trying to get into their pants, which Ayaka here shows is capable of. Unfortunately, I fear that Ayaka is reaching hanekawa levels of perfect that MC will reject her like araragi.

Ya I knew there would be a cat fight but Shinohara really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Ayaka is still best girl hands down. Happy that this came back from the hiatus in 7/26/24 because I was concerned that this story wouldn't continue/conclude if the artist wasn't in good health. Thanks for the translations.
same ma broda, team Ayaka ftw

Everyone here coping about Ayaka meanwhile I’m just annoyed that the MC is such a wet towel that keeps trying to juggle when he can’t even play catch.

Also regardless of who he ends up with that relationshit with Ayaka gotta go/change. Imagine being in a relationship with a guy that has a best friend that gives “I’m an orbiter that can perfectly play the best friend role while I wait for him to man up and cross the line so we can be together” vibes all along. Ex was just dumb, should’ve broken up with him instead of trying to make him jealous with the opposite situation tbh.

When you put together all of her behaviours and schemes she’s a pretty demented woman. She was also the architect of the ex cheating on the MC, on their anniversary no less. In my opinion she is more responsible for the breakup than the MC, but the person who’s most responsible is the ex herself since she was the one who made those choices in the end.

author really uncooking with her, her level of the childhood friend that is clearly going to lose is off the charts and the author makes her too good... not that Shinohara is bad at all, but still Ayaka is kinda better hahaha (100% personal opinion though)
Still don't get up what's up with Natsuki, but Ayaka and Shinohara's catfight reminded me of all that villainess condemnation event in the Villainess otome manga and ofcourse, Shinohara being the heroine who thinks she has it all and Ayaka being the Reincarnated Villainess MC, lol.
hahaha yes, Ayaka pretty much b!tchslapped her, but as MC is a wet towel he didn't stay there with the friend that asked for help and went with the girl that clearly threw a tantrum.

While I don't agree with everything the kouhai said, I do believe what she said about MC's relationship with Ayaka is true. That relationship is definitely odd.

It's in a weird place where they are clearly friends platonically but still do things that would make anyone from the outside think they're a couple. It realistically just a matter of time until either Ayaka acknowledges her feelings or MC makes a move on another girl.

Also MC needs to man tf up, like seriously

Shinohara isn't being vindictive, she's protecting what she wants.

Ayaka best girl? Please. I'd rather then MC go out with mousy, two-faced Natsuki or even Reina again (foreshadowing in the WN).

Ayaka assumed too much and thought she could reel him in anytime she wanted. Of all the FMCs in this series, she's the worst because she held everything at arm's length thinking she could take him anytime. Of all sudden, here's the young vibrant Kouhai who is blissfully ignorant of their history - and really - it wouldn't matter to her anyway. Out of all them - they're all flawed - she's the most honest about what she wants and hasn't spent one moment hiding it once she acknowledged it to herself.

If there's one lesson to be learned out of all of this - be true to yourself and be true about your feelings to others. Let the cards play out.

Reina played herself thinking she's not good enough for some reason, and then makes a cheat play to try and convince herself of this - getting burned by visual contact in the process.

Ayaka - see above.

Natsuki has clearly self-image issues. Look back at the section where she regrets having her name associated with the Moon (Trope about the Moon is Beautiful outburst), and she sees herself as never getting a man, never mind the MC.

The MC is not innocent in all this. He can't get over his breakup and has both trust and commitment issues now.

We all know who prevails, but the journey to get there is full of cringe and missed opportunities, misunderstandings. Just another Tuesday in a Shojo manga.
