why is she even doing this to begin with? i don't care enought about this manga to reread this (i forget 90% of the story)
Kaori?
Kaori is working as a staff member at an AV production company, claiming it's to gain experience for her future goal of becoming an idol. If you stretch the logic—as the author seems to have done—you could argue that the AV industry is a microcosm of the entertainment industry. The author also points out that Kaori is a pervert, which supposedly explains her choice. But does this reasoning hold up? Not really. If Kaori truly wants to become an idol, staying as far away from the AV industry as possible would have been the smarter move. Her decision feels contradictory and poorly justified.
So, why does Kaori want to be an idol? It all stems from Hidaka cheating on her with Yoshioka, which left her with a strange inferiority complex toward Yoshioka. This is odd for two reasons: first, Kaori was actually scouted to be an idol
before Yoshioka became one, and second, Hidaka ultimately chose Kaori over Yoshioka—though she broke up with him because of the cheating. Now, it seems Kaori’s desire to become an idol is driven by her need to feel "equal" to Yoshioka in her own eyes, which is a weird motivation. This kind of convoluted reasoning highlights why storytelling isn’t exactly this manga’s strong suit.
