I mean, we already know what they’re up to. In chapter 80, we learn that Hidaka is studying for medical school while working part-time. In chapters 75 and 77, Yoshioka appears on huge billboards, and in chapter 90, we see that she’s also acting in a movie or series. Her career as an idol, model, and actress seems to be going well.

I mean, in the previous chapter, she said she can't date him, told him to go take care of Kaori, and that she'd always be waiting for him. Only the author knows what Yoshioka truly means by all this... It doesn't really make much sense to me. So yeah, he left because she told him to.
