this series hasn't exactly been amazingly written, but one consistent thing about kaori is that she tries to smile through the pain. she always keeps a cheerful demeanor, even when she's suffering, so this isn't that out of character. she's definitely miserable rn, but she's not gonna let anyone else know it.
