It feels like another situation like with Chi no Wadachi.
The author said something similar, I believe around chapter 110 - that the "real story" starts now, or something like that. And the story ended with 153.

If anything, we may have a long epilogue arc of 30-40 chapters. But I don't see it lasting more - the author is already forcing it a bit. It can be alleviated with a time skip and a new setup, but it feels like most of the story is told. The only thing missing is an ending.

I mean, she literally pulled him back from a ledge. Saving his life is a pretty big debt - not that it should actually be, but definitely could feel that way for the one saved - “I owe her my life, so if she wants to date who am i to refuse?” She definitely understood that, given how she refrained from confessing the day it happened, but i guess seeing him starting to like another girl pushed her to confess anyway, knowing he’d likely be unable to refuse.

I think what Kaori's saying is that she knows how Takeru is settling for her instead of Tomoko. Like because Takeru back then was gloomy as hell from his family dying and wanted to die to suicide. She helped him through it and cheered him up until she felt like it's been long enough and okay for her to properly try dating him. But deep down she knew that Takeru loved Tomoko more.
