The MC is folding to a girl with questionable moral scruples whilst daydreaming about how much he likes the girl who left him for the girl with those questionable moral scruples. The second they get back into the situation where all three of them have to interact again the pleasant environment that is barely dealing with the premise set up in the first chapter will fall apart. Or be brushed under the rug because of backlash and it doing what author clearly wanted it for, to have a unique hook to get clicks.
