My optimistic guess is "No - the reason why the manga is so frequently disturbing and unrealistic is because the author is going way overboard to satisfy a target audience whose warped thinking they don't understand."
My pessimistic guess is "Yes - the author is living in their own little world, and they honestly have no clue how much this behavior would scare the $#!+ out of any reasonably-thoughtful woman."

For the record, before anyone gets the impression I honestly ship MC with Ruka... hell, no. Making crass jokes about it doesn't mean I think it's a good idea.
