It's always jarring to see artists known for wacky stuff on the boorus making stories like this.
But Bacius doesn't exactly pull punches when it comes to Abyssal horror stuff, so frankly I'm more impressed at his ability to make stories out of them instead of individual pics like these

In Kancolle, the shipgirls(girls based on irl warships and wearing the same armaments) are fighting a seemingly endless war against the Abyssals(the ones you see here, there's many of them). Not sure if it changed now as i've been away from kancolle for many years, but basically nothing is known about their existance, how they come to live etc. As such there are many theories around and the most common was that Abyssals are born from the ships that die full of regrets or something along that. I imagine this work includes the author's view on the matter on some level along with the 'it never ended' angle

"Sheepgrills r byssss" has been fanon shit long before the anime s1.

I've seen it enough it doesn't even interest me.

The multimedia also has 0 shared canon between anything, so w/e.

Artists change shit all the time, nothing new and unexpected. Should see artists been around since the FF days.

The directionless wackiness of s1 was way more entertaining than predictable fanon-ripoff grimdark plots.

i just dislike all the "but if the anime was like this grimdark writing it would have been better" comments e v e r y w h e r e because it's not accurate.
