You know at some point and overly evil villain just gets boring....

They need to either be fun evil like the Joker or Frieza or Palpatine..... Or they need to have a proper philosophy that makes us sympathize with them, like Pain or Killmonger or Thanos (even if you think he's wrong it's easy to sympathize with him).... Or they have to be really really cool...

This King literally fits none of the tropes....

He's basically just an evil villain that's only enjoyment is being crushed.....

But if you leave this kind of villain in the story too long he's like a turd..... Just makes the story smell....

The king underestimate Sakurai too much because he was a healer. He already avoided his assassination scheme, travel far into the demon continent and come back alive to him. That just shows he's not your ordinary healer.
To be fair, he doesn't know (as far as I'm aware) about anything other than escaping the assassination attempt. He's still a moron though.

This is just getting stupid and drawn out for no reason, just kill the king already he isnā€™t going to honour any kind of agreement
yeah was going to say something of the sort, this arc is getting too dumb and drawn out, let me use the magicball of cliche bad mangaka writing:

  • There will be agents or saboteurs inside the dungeon to assassinate him
  • He will get the mcguffin after 5+ chapters of drawn out dumb shounen fights
  • The king will again renege on his promise and order to have him arrested and/or use the girls as "hostages" to put a slave bracelet on him or banish him, more cliched shounen stupidity will ensue.
So we won't see any real advanced for 6+ chapters, that at this rate will take 2+ years

tell me if i missed anything

Yeah, and if this were the typical knights of keeping their words and values true, I'm surprised they're still heckling protag. They just saw their king break his promise and oath, what's stopping him now from breaking theirs?

Hopefully we'll see more repercussions from someone else, this really brings the king's credibility down by a lot.
Well... much like in any corporate and government structure, shit trickles downward in the chain of command.

So when the king is already a tyrant, what are the odds the knights are simply taking after their master. :pepehmm:

MC needs to be introduced to Captain Rose and Tsutomu of the Rescue Squad.

To anyone claiming how the king is a caricature, and "it would never happen in real life":

Governor of California LA fires. Or French Laundry COVID incident.

Telling the populous about the king's crimes wouldn't change anything. People are dumb.
They blindly support whoever their tribe tells them to support. Same for the knights.

I'd rather focus on why anyone of the summoned would trust the word of a liar king who already enslaved them once.
And not just use their powers to kill him and dominate/revenge/flee/abandon the kingdom to its fate at first opportunity.

This king holds one of the three keys to open a door to return to the original world, so he can't really die just yet.

Why did hiroki call Ruri by her name in front of the king? She used Sakurai and even Lusha corrected herself. And why even go with lusha to the king? The risk of hostage and it would not be easy to travel inkognito again in the country if the king knows your companion (even the real name). Seems like the author need a quick way so that lusha learns of the summoning.

Yeah, but a healer still manage to escape an assassination is supposed to be raise caution. Any ordinary healer would be dead in that scheme. The king is a moron to not be caution of it.

I thought it was too shouneniy and dumb before, now it reached a new peak.
  • It is assumed that the heroes defeated the demon lord but he still forces them to stay and nobody opened this question.
  • Multiple attempts of assassination remember that not only MC but also hero was attacked and wounded by kingdoms knights. Nobody opens the question once again.
  • Despite promises of return makes arranged marriages
  • Summoned girl doesn't point out that she herself is somewhat like a royalty i.e. meaning a grave offense in ranks of nobility
  • King has broken an oath in an open forum i.e. his court heard and saw this
Despite all of this they still play along with kings actions and demands. Neither of summoned heroes have conversations with people about mistreatment. When a king outright decided to assassinate it was a sign that following his orders is a fool's errand that will never end thus you can at least covertely disrupt him or his kingdom. Hero can corrupt the princess potentially by saying all kinds of bad stuff about the king or coerce her demand for her father to release him, but no they decide to bend their knee to someone like that.

It's hard to read when basically everything in this story feels artificial and stupid. At this point i don't even understand what's the point of hiding his profession or skills, wouldn't it be better to have more leverage and power in the kingdom opposed to kingdoms despise and relentless attempts to disrupt or kill? In any country and kingdom, while the king holds the most power (usually not always) court holds equally the same power, especially in medieval times due to logistical and communication lags.
With their potential power and influence they could easily screw over this kingdom or at least the king at the very least the summoned girl should understand this since she comes from "royal" family and she understands inner workings.

Got a feeling that closing the dungeon to the public will also allow the king to try to kill mc and steal the item 8f mc makes it out alive

The king didn't promise. He kept avoiding it when asked to confirm if it's a promise. This is one sided, the king will not follow through. He didn't even follow through with the previous promise of returning them... Maybe they should make a wish using a certain flower?
