"Normal" humans dodge bullets in fiction all the time. There's even some dude that cuts em in half with his Katana IRL.
You see a gas attack coming? You run away like every other sane person does when they see it coming. THe evasion skill simply means he doesn't even have to actually see it.
Running away from explosions happens all the time too.
If you run away from a spot that's about to get nuked several hours ahead of time, that's still evading. If Fat Bastard tries to run you over with a steamroller and you move out the way, it's still evasion. If you walk briskly away from a zombie trying to bite you, you're evading it. Game logic is hampering thought processes here since you and others seem to be assuming that waiting until the explosion actually starts is the only way something counts as evasion when only an idiot would actually stay there until the spell/missile is in place if they know there's going to be an explosion as a result.
That doesn't require precognition beyond being able to put two+two together like we can do irl. The game mechanics actually make it even easier since once the reactions are automatic and possibly independent of him being able to sense anything.
