This is such a morally confusing first entry, because on one hand, it's good that the boyfriend wasn't allowed to force Ritsu into a kiss she wasn't comfortable with, but it's also pretty bad that she then had one forced on her anyway. I was so close to cheering for Yarai, but then she just went and pulled that. The boyfriend still gets more minus points for forcefully dragging her off to nowhere in the middle of the night with the intent of pulling his shenanigans, but that doesn't exactly make her a saint either, even if she did fend him off.
I know the story is supposed to be about how the closed-off girl who drifts along with society and its pressures opens up and realizes her non-straightness in a country that stands against it, so I can take it with a grain of salt, especially since it started to seem like Yarai could understand Ritsu better than any of her friends and potentially even herself. Their dynamic could otherwise be cute, with the filterless girl who scares off any friends with her nature and the girl with such a thick filter she's barely even an individual amongst the crowd, but unless there's some twist that Yarai's actually a mind-reader and found out that Ritsu was calling her pretty (which is still a weak reason) to somewhat explain away the lack of consent, I feel like this story might be a bit too questionable to live up to its intended cuteness.
