Look, I was expecting him to somehow pull off holy magic from feeling it once and say this is beyond Karate. But I think the justification works, Ki always suppose to be a thing and be all about "life force" so it really can work conceptually in a world that has very established magic rules. Also Kiai should never be underestimated, I sort of expected that to be the solution or maybe the sumo clap technique thingy. (Even if that isn't solely Karate technique.)
