I do think you're partially right but there's also more to this topic because even without interacting with a lot of the opposite gender I feel like you could still be friends with the opposite gender without any problems but you are also very right in that how you're brought up will totally affect how you at least I initially interact with them.

I hate the gyaru character with passion, like she first tries to get her friend to SA him when drunk, then she rejects what people say "Going nah, my worldview is the only correct one" the most immature character in an otherwise brilliant manga

Also whomever says that guy and girls cannot be just friends are either terminally online or still in school, because if you experience life enough, you just come to understand that you will not fall in love with every second girl you see or vice versa.
