it's insane to me that the black hair requirement was actually a thing in Japan until very recently...
Why be surprised, it's a very japanese thing. Everyone is expected to conform to the norms of society in Japan. The population overwhelming the same group of people, 98% of something i think. Standing out or going against the grain in Japan isn't as acceptable or a good idea compare to some other countries unfortunately. To put it bluntly, compare to how it's portrayed in Japanese media [like anime or manga], it's often not good to be different in Japan especially if you want to be accepted by society. Thanks for the translation!

Legally, yes.
But the social stigma still remains. When you browse social media, you keep seeing stories like "Teacher gave me hell for my hair" or "Classmates look at me weird because I don't dye my hair black."
Things like this happen: https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20220531/p2a/00m/0na/007000c
What's changing is that the younger generation, with the rise of social media, is starting to take less crap when it comes to these traditional standards. They're becoming more outspoken and are publicly calling out aggressors, so I don't think this entire mentality around hair will stick around much longer.
Glad you and the groups are talking. So many groups have slowed down or stopped due to a lack of redrawers. I hope that ‘Akiba Detectives’ and ‘I’d Rather Sleep’ are able to start updating but they are in the same boat.Hey everyone,
I'm Kai. I'm super happy to see everyone's positive reply to my effort. I'm happy to complete the series solo, but I've sent a msg to Areko313 from Sappho Scans to have a chat.
Thanks for the positive reception.
Kind Regards,
Kai
