Oof, this chapter is kinda heavy. But that's just what I like about it, exploring the weird reality they set up for their world in its earnest -- especially one that overlap with real world like this.

excellent, i needed more of this even if it's a trainwreck that will end up like shit and not the way people want to
Is this a spoiler though? I'm curious as to what you mean by 'people want to' here. You mean like vanilla rom-com?

Thanks for the translation!

it's insane to me that the black hair requirement was actually a thing in Japan until very recently...
Well, here in Asia, black hair is the norm. Even dark brown is already suspicious if you dye it and try to pass it off as natural color. I once heard from a JP VTuber who's a half American that her natural color is on the light color side (can't remember if she said the specific color, but I imagine it might be brown to light brown, not even blond) and it causes problems for her with the teachers regularly, too. Every now and then, there will be teacher who doesn't know she's mixed blood, or doesn't believe that's her natural color and make a big deal out of it.

There are movements to push for more freedom on this and more schools are more open to it these days, but I think it'll take another decade or two before it fully becomes a new norm.

Well if you read previous chapter comments someone spoiled the novel and i made the mistake of very rapidly catching a glimpse and promptly closing the spoiler.

What people want is for them both to end as a couple (together, not with other people), any other result is a cop-out and trash, i don't give a shit about this new girl with glasses, she can "begone THOTH" for all i care

I find it hilarious that a school in Japan who has had these gender bending victims in the past is like: So you just had a life changing event and you are required to start coming to school in these female clothes.

Imagine if they had thar standard for everything. Of you are a foreigner or have mixed blood parents? You need to wear this badge or other suit to show that you are the other kind of person.

Maybe you would like to give them like some breathing room?! Just saying.

Also I agree with what others have said that it's funny that we have closed the story to just flashbacks now.

Also I kind of like that the author is going against the norm of gender mind and asking: so what if a GB character still had a mind like a boy? Author is trying to explore all these things both in the present and the past. I am here thinking: Wouldn't they just be a lesbian? You know dress like a manly lesbian with pants and short hair?
Why is the author complicating this with extra steps?

I enjoy how thoroughly the mangaka is exploring the issues and feelings that would arise for someone that got hit with a sudden bullshit sex-changing disease (and didn't have gender dysphoria already.) This is way more interesting to me than the outcome of the romance elements of the story.
