Since neither of them mentioned the Rona, and considering all of the Rule 63 going on with historical (or semi-historical) figures, maybe people are getting Trucked from different realities. There's a bit in Sandman: Worlds' End where one more widely travelled character asks an American newbie character about recent presidents to see which America he comes from.
Updating this to the 2020s:
Old Man: "I'm guessing from your clothing that you came from one of the worlds where Ronald Regan was president in the '80s."
American: "Yeah, that's right. After him was George Bush, then Bill Clinton, then George W."
Old Man: "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Your world is most unfortunate."
American: "Well, after W was President Obama."
Old Man: "How fortuitous for your world. I guess that after him came Hillary Clinton?"
American: "Nope, after Obama was Donny Trump."
Old Man: "The reality TV failed real estate guy from Home Alone 2? Hahaha! You have such a strange sense of humour, my young friend."
American: "No really, Trump got elected. Then he got re-elected after Biden."
Old Man: "..."
American: "..."
Old Man: "I'm so sorry. Drinks are on me. We're going to need them."
